Ist lächeln nicht einfach nur freundlich? Oder geht auch zu nett? Kichern, wenn mal der rote Faden gerissen ist? Ist ein stabiler Stand nicht überschätzt – was spricht gegen überkreuzte Beine beim Power Point Vortrag, ist doch viel entspannter…
„Get over cute!“
fordert Jane Elliott eine ihrer Seminarteilnehmerinnen auf. Hier die klare Ansage:
„Because you’ll be cute until you’re about 45, and then at 45 you’re no cuty anymore, you’ll just be an old brat, and there’ll be a whole bunch of 18 to 40 year olds who are cuter than you are. And at that point you will say: „I want that promotion“, and then somebody we’ll say to you „Well, I don’t think of you as qualified, I just think of you as cute“. And then you’ll gonna howl sexism. Females, get over cute! Get competent! Get trained, get capable! Get over cute! And those of you who are called Patsy and Betsy and Susy, get over that. Because we use those names to infantalise females. We keep females in their little girl state by the names we use for them. Get over it. If you want to be taken seriously, get serious.
